Periyar Gaushala is on a mission to create an elite herd of one of the world’s most prestigious indigenous Gir cows by meticulously choosing the superior desi breed of Gir cows sourced from Gujarat.
The cows are free to roam and follow their natural feeding behaviour by openly grazing on pesticide-free lush, verdant pastures. We are against artificial insemination and promote healthy, natural breeding. We are also against the deed of separating calves from the cows to supply more milk to the dairies.
Periyar Farm promotes sustainable & natural farming methods without the use of toxic pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers. Furthermore, our concept of an old age home for the cows ensures that no cow is slaughtered or given away. Instead, they are cared for till their natural demise.
Our belief lies in caring, nurturing, loving, and giving back to our nature in the most bountiful ways by keeping our cows, honeybees, earthworms, and all other living beings happier and our food more nutritious.
